What are the most talked-about Android apps on the web? AppStoreHQ knows.

Holy smokes, Android apps are hot! A few weeks ago we announced the availability of our Android app search engine and caught the eye of the good folks at IntoMobile and VentureBeat (among others). Since then we’ve been absolutely blown away by the level of interest in our Android offering from both consumers and potential partners.

But something was missing. Because our Android catalog was so new, we hadn’t yet built up a large enough database of Android app reviews to be able to accurately rank the most talked-about Android apps on the web. So for the past few weeks we’ve been heads-down solving that problem, and we’re happy to announce that our Hottest Android Apps list is up and running!

As a reminder, here’s how we build this list:

  1. We follow a core list of leading tech blogs and match up any reviews we find with our app listings.
  2. We also allow any blogger to submit their app review to our ranking engine using our AppBack widget.
  3. We automatically rank every review we find based on the relative authority of the source (based on traffic and readership)
  4. Several times a day we crunch our database of ranked app reviews and recalculate our Hottest Android Apps list to identify the most talked-about Android apps right now.
