AppStoreHQ is looking for *one* developer-entrepreneur to join our founding team

AppStoreHQ is a Seattle-based startup focused on the mobile app search + discovery problem (market size: $2B in 2009 -> projected $15B in 2013).
We’re already the most-visited independent discovery platform for smartphone apps - we started with iPhone and just released our Android catalog a few weeks ago. We also operate iPhoneDevSDK, the largest and most visited independent forum for iPhone developers. We’re backed by Founder’s Co-op, and although we aren’t profitable yet we’re making real money and have lots of ideas for how to make more. We’re a small team with a great early start on an awesome opportunity, and there just aren’t enough of us to do everything we need to do.
So…we’re looking to add *one* great developer-entrepreneur who nods and smiles when s/he reads the following statements…
- I’m 100% on fire to make a big impact, go like hell and play to win.
- I don’t write code, I build products that solve problems and make life easier for people.
- There are some tools and problems I like better than others, but I work at whatever layer of the stack I have to to make the product and business win.
- I don’t want to be an employee, I want to be an owner - with all the satisfaction, frustration and responsibility that entails.
- I need money to live, but I value ownership, autonomy and purpose more than a fat paycheck.
Role-specific requirements look something like this…
- As a lead engineer on a very small team, you’ll be defining business goals and writing code for all aspects of our site. This includes backend processes, Solr, Rails code, and front-end HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Specific responsibilities will include:
- developing new features
- maintaining current features
- co-leading the technical team
- leading / owning key portions of short and long term technical and business strategy
- Most of our code is in Ruby, but we use the right tool for the job. You should be fluent in Ruby on Rails, Linux and Java, and able to adapt quickly to other languages as necessary.
- We operate a family of high-demand websites serving a global customer base. You must have experience running a large-scale web property built on Amazon Web Services, including EC2, SQS, S3, EBS
- You’ll write tests and release quality code. We believe in test driven development, and you could call us “agile,” but really we’re about shipping great code quickly and efficiently with minimal bugs.
Application details
- This is a Seattle-based, full-time, onsite position - no offsite / virtual candidates please.
- Direct candidate contacts only - no agencies please.
