Android apps at AppStoreHQ

Our most popular feature at AppStoreHQ is our Hottest Apps list - a snapshot of the most-talked-about apps right now among the most influential and widely-read tech blogs worldwide. We follow every post these blogs publish, and every time we match one of their posts to one of our listed apps, we:

  • Recalculate the Hottest score for that app (weighted by the “authority” of the source blog, as indicated by its Alexa and Compete rank)
  • Display the first few lines of the post - along with the post title and a link to the source blog - on: the app detail page for the app(s) mentioned; the developer profile for the app(s); the profile page for the source blog; and our streaming feed of all app reviews.

It’s not widely known, but in addition to indexing app-related posts from our “canonical” blog list we also invite any blogger anywhere to vote for their favorite mobile apps just by including our “AppBack Widget” in any app-related post they publish. AppBacks are small graphical widgets (a full-size image of one is shown above) that include everything app shoppers need - icon, name, category, publisher and price - to buy with confidence. We update these automatically, so once you include it the information displayed will always be up to date for that app.

You can find the code for our AppBack widgets on any app detail page. So for the app shown above, the app detail page is found here:

Scroll down until you see the  link that reads “Review [insert app name here] on your blog and be added to AppStoreHQ”. For PDANet the AppBack code and instructions can be found here:

So you don’t have to be TechCrunch or Mashable to influence our Hottest Apps list. Just include the AppBack for the app you’re blogging about in your blog post and your post will be indexed, displayed and linked up just like the big guys.

PLEASE NOTE: We now have AppBack widgets for Android apps and Mobile Web apps too! We’re still building our canonical blog list for non-iPhone platforms, so AppBack posts have an even bigger impact on the Hottest list for these apps.
