Seasoned wireless executive Scott Blanksteen signs on as CEO
Seattle WA, Friday December 3, 2010 - AppStoreHQ - a leading independent discovery platform for iPhone and Android apps - announced today that mobile and web technology executive Scott Blanksteen has joined the company as CEO. “Our business is growing rapidly as the smartphone applications market continues to explode,” says Chris DeVore, AppStoreHQ co-founder and Executive Chairman. “The wide range of strategic opportunities and the need to scale the business made this the right time to add seasoned business leadership to the team. Scott’s insights on the mobile market and his record of success are a perfect fit for AppStoreHQ.”
Scott brings extensive experience to the role, having held executive roles in product management, marketing, engineering, and business and corporate development. He has worked in the wireless industry for more than a decade and his teams have built, sold, and delivered web and mobile content charging systems, content delivery platforms, messaging aggregation networks, and personalization solutions.
Scott joins the company from IceBreaker, a developer of mobile social games and community services, where he was responsible for product strategy, user acquisition and retention, and monetization through the company’s acquisition by DeNA of Japan. Previously Scott served as head of business and corporate development and general manager of the analytics product group at Qpass and helped grow that business leading up to and following the company’s acquisition by Amdocs. Scott holds a bachelor’s degree in computer science and economics, a master’s degree in computer science and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he focused in new product and business development.
“I’m incredibly excited to be joining the AppStoreHQ team - they’ve done an excellent job of tackling the increasingly difficult mobile app discovery problem and I look forward to helping bring the business to the next level,” said Blanksteen. “AppStoreHQ has a fantastic engineering team that is already delivering real business value to mobile developers and smartphone owners.
