Search the App Store by keyword, category, rating & price - or all of the above!
In our ongoing quest to make AppStoreHQ the undisputed king of mobile app discovery, we just shipped a major upgrade to our search and browse engine. There’s lots of goodness in there, but the headline is that you can now browse and search for iPhone apps by any combination of keyword, category, price and average rating. As far as we can tell, AppStoreHQ is the only place on the web (or on your iPhone, for that matter) where you can do this.
In the example above, a keyword search for fart (sorry, we couldn’t help ourselves) shows you all 165(!) relevant results. As you can see from the filters in the left rail, the majority of these (133) are in the Entertainment category, and are mostly (118 of the total) priced at 99 cents. And while we’re not exactly sure how you’d assess the quality of a fart app, it looks like the typical user is less than delighted with their purchase, as only about a quarter of these apps (47 to be exact) have an average rating of 3 stars or higher.
Curious what’s happening in your neck of the App Store? Come to AppStoreHQ, run a search for your favorite keyword and see what the numbers have to say…
P.S. - If you run an iPhone-related site or blog and would like to offer this same app search experience to your users, give us a shout.
